The purpose of this course is to provide graduate students who have completed their research and are currently working on theses or scientific research reports in English to advance their English writing skills. As such, an important focus of the course is to provide an in-depth study of English grammar and sentence structure, particularly as it applies to research writing. Material from the students’ own English theses or research reports will be analyzed and revised in class. Weekly writing assignments will be based on the specific needs of the students in the course. There will be no mid-term or final exam for this course. Instead, each student’s final grade will be based on his or her class participation (35%), weekly writing assignments (35%), and overall progress in developing English writing skills (30%).
